New Trolley Has Arrived
Wednesday, 01 August 2007 10:57
The Butler Transit Authority (BTA) is pleased to announce the arrival of its new trolley bus. The 30 foot Gillig bus was transformed to look like a classic red trolley by the California based company, Cable Car Classics.
Like the Authority's three Gillig buses that arrived in April, the trolley bus is handicap accessible and will hold approximately 29 passengers. The trolley is unique in that it is the first standard bus model to be converted to resemble a trolley. Cable Car Classics had to adapt their low-floor trolley bus models to fit BTA's standard bus model.
Despite the trolley's unique look it will function as a regular bus and will rotate on all the Authority's routes. All of BTA's buses, including the trolley, now offer exterior stainless steel bicycle racks capable of transporting two bicycles at a time and the latest safety features to enhance the overall transit experience for riders.
The trolley began service on Friday, August 24th on BTA's Express Route.
