New Schedules to take Effect December 4 2011

The Butler Transit Authority’s route changes are set to begin on Sunday, December 4, 2011. The route changes are an effort for the Butler Transit Authority to improve its bus system through eliminating unused or low traffic stops and improve on-time bus performance. Utilizing, the smart bus equipment available on every Butler Transit Authority bus, the Authority has been able to collect and analyze data on each route. The smart bus equipment includes automated passenger counters and GPS information on each stop.

The Authority used the GPS to adjust times on each route to make them run more efficiently and improve on-time performance. The automated passenger counters were used to determine how often a stop was being used and whether that ridership justified the stop.

A public hearing was held in September for the public to comment on the proposed changes, the Authority will continue to take suggestions and comments in writing as the new routes are implemented. Written comments can be submitted through the Authority’s website or at 130 Hollywood Drive, Suite 101 Butler, PA 16001. With the data that was analyzed and the feedback received, the Authority is ready to launch its route changes. New schedules are available at the downtown bus terminal on East Cunningham Street and at the links below.
