Dump the Pump and Customer Appreciation Day

With the return of high gas prices, the Butler Transit Authority (BTA) announced today that it will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the sixth annual National Dump the Pump Day on Thursday, June 16.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) the 2011 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation and save money, instead of driving a car. This national day emphasizes that public transportation is a great travel option that also helps people save money.

By participating in Dump the Pump Day, the Authority hopes people who have never used the Butler Transit Authority will decide to give it a try instead of driving their car. BTA will be welcoming new riders and thanking our regular riders with special services and benefits on National Dump the Pump Day, including: 25 Cent Fares on BTA’s local service all day long· Promotional giveaways to our loyal passengers

“With the economic downturn affecting everyone, now is the time to save money and ride public transportation,” said APTA President William W. Millar. “The National Dump the Pump Day on June 16th is an opportunity for people across the country to ease the strain on their wallets and provide a more secure future for America.”
